The Gym of the Future Will Be Virtual, Gamified, and Totally Immersive

In the near future, you might squeeze in a sweat session while picking up some milk.

Your local gym will be tucked inside the local market, perhaps just a few feet away from the produce section. There you’ll don a lightweight VR headset and pedal your way through a virtual exotic world as trackers count your every moment. When you’re done, your phone will ping you to book a massage—it’ll know exactly which muscles are aching.

Digme Fitness Acquires Boutique Brand Another Space

Digme Fitness has acquired Another Space – the boutique studio concept from premium fitness operator Third Space, as the global fitness industry continues to consolidate.

The deal will see Digme take over the brand’s two London-based studios, in Covent Garden and Bank, boosting its portfolio to 8 sites across the UK. For Third Space, meanwhile, it marks the end of its presence in the boutique fitness sector, just three years since Another Space first launched.

“We have always admired Another Space with their high-quality team, beautiful studios and prime locations. We are very lucky to be welcoming them to our company,” commented Geoff Bamber, Digme’s co-founder and CEO.

Gold’s Gym Opened 35 Clubs, Signed a Record 22 U.S. Franchise Agreements in 2019

In 2019, Gold’s Gym International, Dallas, finalized 22 American franchise agreements and opened 35 locations, the latter of which is a company record.

“This past year of success serves as proof that the Gold’s Gym franchise opportunity is more attractive than ever as an investment in the fitness industry,” Gold’s Gym CEO Adam Zeitsiff said in a Jan. 15 media release.

This Girl Can Campaign Celebrated for Featuring ‘Real’ Female Fitness Stories

The latest edition of the highly-successful This Girl Can Campaign has been celebrated for its “taboo-busting” and “brave” take on what female fitness really looks like.

The new body-positive advert is seen as a perfect antidote to what has been described as “unrealistic and negative images of women” often used in fitness-related online content and media marketing campaigns.

According to Sport England, the film has been designed to show the raw, unfiltered reality of women exercising in whatever way that works for them.
